Domiciliary Care Service for Children and Families

We offer services to Children and young people who are known to the Council’s Children with Disabilities Service and their families who are eligible to receive support to enable them to take part in and enjoy local community life.

Our tailor- made family-based respite includes supporting children in their own homes or in the community to access outside social and leisure activities.

  • With the help of our highly experienced complex needs support workers, we support children with varied needs and their wider families to afford an inhouse short break that they may require from their caring role.
  • We support varied needs to include Fragile X syndrome, Global development delay, Challenging behaviour, Asperger’s syndrome, Willian’s syndrome, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), Down’s syndrome
  • Our range of support packages include day, evening, overnight, school holidays and weekend and take place in the child’s own home, the home of an approved carer, a residential or community setting. Packages are tailor made to meet the individual child in line with their complex specific needs.

Tasks include:

Morning routine: Helping with shower, bath, meal preparation and feeding, preparing for school or college.

After school support: Feeding, art and craft and indoor games and activities.

Escorts: to college and or school in school transport.

Support with bedtime routines and overnight support for complex care support.

Provide companionship to families and their children.

Support with community access: Going to libraries, youth clubs, children’s Centres, leisure centres, Scouts, Brownies, after school clubs and sport’s groups.
